AFAIK, Apple usually refers to developer workshops as kitchens, where a
bunch of interested people come to a place (often in the SF Bay Area),
and work through a day's worth of problems and questions they have
encountered on a particular topic, while having Apple expertise at
hand. Previous kitchens included topics such as Visual Icon design in
OS X, new technologies etc.

Week this time round.

Apple used to do these years ago.
Looks like they are restarting them for different industries.

This is a good sign.
