Enabling Menu Items Problem
Date: 25.01.05 19:45 (Tue, 25 Jan 2005 11:45:06 -0700)
From: Chuck Pelto
Working on a project and have a couple of import menu items under file
that start out as disabled.

When a file is opened, they are coded to become enabled via calls in
the App Source Code such as...

FileImportThis.enabled = true
FileImportThat.enabled = true

These calls are part of the method related to opening a file in a
database system.

The problem is that after the calls have been made, the menu still
shows the menu items as being disabled.

What needs to be done?

Regards,

Chuck

Put your code in the 'Events -->EnableMenuitems"
This is the only place to enable/disable menu items.

FileImport.enable
FileImport.enabled = false

So how do I call it to be enabled from the OpenDatabase method? This is
the method used to open the database that must be open in order to
import data into it.

Chuck

Okay...

...I figured it out.

However, THAT is not particularly obvious, i.e., it is rather
'convoluted'. I would recommend that a future edition allow one to
change the status of a menu or menu item by a simple call from within
the method where the change needs to be made. Not having to create
various and diverse properties and asking if-else-end if questions.

Chuck
