ListBox resize question

Hi,

I have a list box and would like the user to be able to resize
the columns. Per the documentation, it sounds like if I make
one column size = *, then the columns should be resizable.

I have 5 columns and have tried (for the List Box ColumnWidths
in design view - not as the program runs):

20%,20%,20%,20%,*
*,*,*,*,*
and even nothing at all

and when I position on the header between two list box columns
it just doesn't let me re-size them.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Brad.

Hi Brad.

You need to check "ColumnsResizable" in the Behavior section of the listbox properties in the ide.

Hi,

in the heading part of your message(s), can you tell us the REALbasic and OS
platform/version you are using ? TIA.

Yes.

Did you set the 'ColumnsResizable' property (in the Properties window, below the
'Behavior' entry ?

If no - and this is the case - check it and you will see one of the 'resize'
cursor when you place the Mouse above the Header area (and if you have more than
one column - you have 10 - of course).

Nota: you can set the whole ListBox columns as Resizable (design and code) or
only some columns (code only).

And for what you talk in the line starting by 'Per the documentation...", all of
that is bullshit (sorry).

You are in wrong assertion in all parts of the message (and this is the reason
why you asked here).

In the design mode, all you can see is:

a. the column width,
b. the heading initial value (0 ... n or the values you set),
c. TextFont and TextSize...

In no case, the actual design mode allows you to resize the columns using the
mouse in the design mode; this is a run-time modification. To change the column
widths at design mode, set the ColumnWidths string.

HTH,

Emile

PS: checking the documentation in your case does not seemed to let you reach an
answer. To get the needed information, the place to search was the Properties
Window. A long search on both the Tutorial and User’s Guide pdf does not reach
that information (funny). So it can be considered that the question is
legitimate and there must be added a new part in the documentation that describe
"differently" the ListBox properties (a screen shot of the Properties window for
a ListBox and a description - with links - of these properties ?
