making a rect visible to show focus

When I run my app, its really hard to see which editfield has the cursor's
focus because they are colored backgrounds. I tried to be clever and put a
bright yellow rectangle behind each edit field, where the rectangle is a few pixels
wider and taller than the editfield and turn their visiblity off. Then when
the editfield gets focus, I make the backgroiund rectangle visible, and when
the editfield loses focus, then it makes the background rect invisible again.
Howver, it doesn't work. The background rects don't show up at all. Any clues?

Greg

Don Thanks for the suggestion. I just changed the color of the object with
the getfocus and lostfocus. And that works fine. I just wish they would fix this
bug in the IDE where it shows the backcolor is black no matter what it
actually is. Thanks again
