ODBC login question...
Date: 07.05.02 19:43 (Tue, 07 May 2002 13:43:21 -0500)
From: Burke Squires
Hello,

I extensively use an ODBC connected MS SQL Server 2000 database as the back
end to the laboratory information management application I am building for
my company, Eliance Biotechnology. A few versions ago with SQL Server 7 I
was able to connect to an ODBC database using RB without a dialog coming up.
Now no matter what I try my users are still forced to type in login
information in the ODBC dialog that comes up. I am using the following
connection string:

cDatabase.d = openODBCDatabase("DSNàI;UID user name;PWD password",0,"")

I have downloaded, and re-downloaded, the documentation when says this
should work. Do you all have any idea why this is happening and how to
prevent it?

Thanks,

Burke

If you are using the ODBC driver from DataDirect you need to change your
connect string... In their infinite wisdom instead of using "PWD" you need
to use "Password".

Try this instead...

cDatabase.d = openODBCDatabase("DSNàI;UID user
name;Password assword",0,"")

You should be able to combine the two types of password specs which will
help if you use the same code with the old Visigenic driver...

cDatabase.d = openODBCDatabase("DSNàI;UID user
name;Password assword;PWD assword",0,"")
