IDE crashes while compiling

From: Cyber T
Hi,

After working on a certain project for a while, then compiling, I'm
getting a 'hard' type 2 (sometimes 3?) bus error (crash) during the
compile.

The project is 8MB in size and I'm using RB4.0.2(classic).

I'm not trying to do anything fancy. Just a few forms and some custom
classes.

The system is very clean and there is buckets of ram etc.. Does anyone
else get a crash during compiles?

The project compiles fine after a restart.

- C.

Try allocating more ram to the IDE.
This ap[pens to me as well if I don't

Please install MacsBug, so you can get a more useful error message.

But how much of that RAM is allocated to the IDE? You may very well
need to increase the IDE's memory allocation.

With MacsBug 6.6.3 installed and 200MB allocated to RB, I get a bad
heap error while building (linking).

Actual MacsBug error was:
PowerPC unmapped memory exception at 3F545E20 your heap is probably
corrupt.

The "REALbasic 4.0.2 Classic" heap at 116AB5A0 is bad
This block's back pointer doesn't point to the previous block.
