3rd Party Tab Panel? Other stuff

Regarding the Speed Up Array Looping, my solutions seem to be working well
enough. Thanks!

OK, with 4.5fc1 the invisible Tab Panel changing Frame groups trick doesn't
work more. I think this is because the Tab Panel is no a "True Container"
or whatever that means.

I could get rid of the tab panel and just have my frames appear and
disappear, but then the headache of managing that in the IDE doesn't thrill
me. Organizing them in the tab panel was great - sniff... no it's no
more... sniff

So the only problem here is now I have to see the tab panel itself in order
to see the frames. OK, no problem - but I have lot's of tabs. What? No dual
rows? No scroll over at the top at least? Yuuch!

This is a good idea for someone to write a 3rd party Tab Panel. Are there
any? Haven't found any.

Any thoughts?

Just change the super of your tabpanel to turn it into a pagepanel
and remember to make it visible. I spent a lot of time messing
around until Joe reminded me just to do that. All fixed in 5 seconds;)

I'm not quite sure what you are doing and I have to admit I haven't
played with the visual hierarchy stuff as much as I'd like, but can't
you put your controls into pretty much any rectcontrol and they'll hide
when it hides?

I've found Joe very helpful. Great posts to this list. Thanks!

BUT...

I've had to turn my back on 4.5 recently. I was glad when it was released,
but then I started getting erratic results with FolderItems - I would get
.Exists = True on files that didn't exist, and the AbsolutePath would start
having funny characters on it. I know the new version maintenance said the
garbled names were fixed, but I still got them - and the Exists problem
happened on the fc1 as well. I've got a commercial app that needs an update
bad - I don't have time or the risk to open myself to a showstopper bug
like that.

I'm going to do a REALBugs for the first time - but I feel so lousy doing
it and not having a piece of plain small example code where this is
exhibited. I tried, but I couldn't replicate it. The mangled names are
erratic, and I tried to duplicate the .Exist issue, but it just happens
randomly - on more than one Mac.

I'll keep trying!

Also, I found that a debugging technique I used often in 4.0 wasn't doing
too well in 4.5. I would put up the occasional MsgBox, in cases where I
wanted to know the value of an expression (BIG REQUEST - AN INTERMEDIATE
PANE!), and then I could click onto a window of the IDE and the program
execution would pause and I could input some select breakpoints, etc. Am I
wacky, but on 4.5 it seems that the MsgBox is too modal and it doesn't
allow that?

P.S. The PagePanel is 4.5 only, but at least I know when I can get up
there, it's there. Thanks!
