OK, maybe I can do this another way. Basically what I want to do is access
the functionality of this shared lib in an RB app built for/running in OS X.

Can *that* even be done (using RB Declares)? If so, what kind of Target
would I select in ProjectBuilder?

[OT] How to compile Carbon Shared Library w/ProjectBuilder?
Date: 12.12.02 18:09 (Thu, 12 Dec 2002 11:09:08 -0600)

Before you flame, there *is* an RB component here . . . I'm going to use the
Shared Library in a REALbasic project.

Anyway . . . on to the problem: I have a Code Warrior C project which can
make a Classic shared lib. I am interested in using ProjectBuilder, if
possible, to make a Carbonized version of this lib (it does not rely heavily
-- actually not at all -- on MacOS interface stuff except for the MSL and
SIOUX stuff from CW).

I briefly looked through ProjectBuilder and did not immediately see a
"Carbon Shared Lib" project template, but I see a couple of possibilities:
- "Library" (seems to be intended for a static lib)
- "Carbon Framework" (is a framework ~= shared library?)

All of these files and settings and so on are a bit befuddling to me --
makes me really appreciate the simplicity of RB!!!

Thanks,

Josh

You can't. ProjectBuilder can only compile Mach-O code. If you want a
Carbon CFM shared library you'll need to get Codewarrior.

That you can do with declares.

ProjectBuilder can't make shared libraries (CFM 'shlb' files). It
can my dynamic libraries (Mach-O 'dylib' files), which are similar
though considerably more limited. But you can't access dylibs from
RB (not without a plugin, anyway).

Cheers,
