Someone else suggested that it has to do with spinning the hard drive
back up. Please listen (or feel) for your hard drive spinning, and
let us know if that's what's going on. If so, I would expect it to
only be slow on rare occasions unless you have your HD set to spin
down very quickly.
It was also suggested that turning off the sound track helps -- which
would make sense (sounds are more likely to get purged from RAM and
need to be reloaded than other resources). So you could try that too.
