RB Properties window incomplete for App
Date: 26.11.07 15:48 (Mon, 26 Nov 2007 09:48:11 -0500)
From: Paul Young
Running RB 2007 Rel 4 on MacBook Pro Running OS 10.5.1

All of a sudden, when App is selected in a project, the properties
window is incomplete. I no longer see the version, icon, etc.,
properties. How can I get the complete properties info to show?

Thanks,

Paul Young

Sounds like your Application subclass has become unblessed. This
should happen if you have more than one such subclass (i.e., there
can be only one blessed Application subclass). So check that first.
If you really have just the one, then this is a bug in RB. Exporting
it and reimporting it might help.

Joe,

There is only one App in the project. Exporting App and reimporting
App does not help.

Quitting RB and relaunching RB does not help.

Rebooting does not help.

A new project shows the full App property window.

Older versions of the same app have the same problem.

The app runs normally but I don't see how I can change the version
number, etc., to update the app.

This is really strange.

Well, if you don't have much stuff in that, you can simply create a
new Application subclass, and delete the old one.

But if you do have a lot of stuff in it, then it may be easier to
export it to XML (or VCP) and change the blessed flag, by comparing
it to what you see in a new project (where the App class is properly
blessed).

Best,
- Joe

Yes, that is what I just did and it worked. This has never happened
to me before.

Thanks Joe.

For what it"'s worth: setting App's Super to <None> and then back to
Application worked for me when importing 4.5 projects into RB 2006.

Patrick,

So it has happened to others as well! Hm.

I tried your suggestions but this did not fix it. I had to start with
a fresh project and move everything from the old to the new before it
would work. I'm just glad that it worked.

Recently, I went through some troubleshooting to find out why RB 2007
Rel 5 did not see plugins. Turning off incremental compiling did it
then but does not work anymore so I'm back to RB 2007 Rel 4.
