Environment variables in a Console app?

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if it's possible to read environment variables from
within a Console app? I'm starting a helper app (that's a console
app) and some of the properties used need to be gleaned from the
environment.

I know that I could Shell exec a call to "env", but I'm hoping there's
a more direct way.

Tim

See System.EnvironmentVariable.

Thanks Charles and Joe!

Attention RS tech writer - please add note about System.Environment to
the Console app docs... Filing feature request.

Just an FYI that it is already documented as part of the System
module - where it "belongs"
You can use that in GUI apps as well

I know that, but there should be a at least a link in the "See Also"
so that we find things more easily. I wasn't looking for "System"
things, I was looking for Console App things. A "See also" entry
would have stopped this entire thread before it started.

So would typing "environment variable" into the search field of the
language reference.

That's just it, it didn't. However, typing Environment alone does.

Regardless, I stand by my statement that if a simple link under the
Console App's "See Also" had existed, this thread wouldn't.

a search in the LR for "environment variable" turns up
System.EnvironmentVariable here
