More RoundRectangle
Date: 01.08.08 05:12 (Fri, 1 Aug 2008 00:12:08 -0400)
From: Dave Shirk
Hello again,

Thanks to all of our help, I have now created a replacement class for
RoundRectangle, called MyRRect. It has the same properties as
RoundRectangle. Now my question:

Is there an easy way to replace all of my RoundRectangle Controls with
my new Class AND Maintain the values of the properties across the
change?

Thanks in advance,

Dave Shirk

I've made a plugin replacement, but I've also seen this problem.
Seems impossible.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to cover for these dropped
classes.

The one app I am concerned about most ( http://fastrabbitsoftware.com/dot_to_dot_software.htm
) uses literally thousands of precision placed ovals and lines. I
played with it a bit, but couldn't work out anything to make it easy
to replace them all quickly or easily. For other apps the process of
replacing the deprecated items will be the same, but with far less
ovals, rectangles, and lines to replace in most of my apps the task
isn't as daunting.

Could exporting the RB project to XML and doing a string replacement on the
roundrect control superclass from "RoundRectangle" to "RoundRectMBS" be the
answer ? ( and then reimporting ). This ought to at least retain the
original control positions.

Daniel,

I tried that as well. I cannot guarantee that I did not screw
something up, but I tried with a simple test project. When I imported
the edited xml file, RB crashed.

Are you using the IDE on Linux? I have never been able to re-import an XML
project onLinux without it crashing.

Can't you just do a Global Find in RB and tell it to use "Whole
Word" ??????
