SpecialFolder.SharedDocuments exists, but it's nil?
Date: 01.08.08 20:25 (Fri, 1 Aug 2008 15:25:00 -0400)

So friends,

Here's a weirdness: I have a friend running Windows XP Pro SP2, and
when my Windows RB application tries to access
SpecialFolder.SharedDocuments on his computer, it returns nil. The
folder exists on his computer, and he has administrator rights and
can create and delete folders inside the folder.

Here are some code snippets, all produce the same nil result:

if SpecialFolder.SharedDocuments=nil then
MsgBox("It's nil!") 'happens every time
end if

dim f as folderitem

f=SpecialFolder.SharedDocuments.child("New file")

'returns f=nil every time

Both my Windows XP Pro SP2 computer and my Vista computer here return
valid folderitems, but not my friend's!

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this? - And how to work
around it?

- John
