You must have a menubar for the window but it can easily be hidden by
setting the MenuBarVisible property to False, See the LR for all the
effects.

Yes. No menubar, no menu shortcuts.

Unlike Windows, *every* window on Mac should have a menubar (of course
it's not really in the window, but at the top of the screen), unless
it's a full-screen window for a game or kiosk or something. So you
should probably conditionally assign it.

True. I wasn't thinking about the fact that there is no MenuBar *in* the
window on Mac anyway! Thanks.

Hiding the menu bar is not the standard behaviour on Mac. It's
expected to be hidden for windows that cover the screen.
