IDE Scripting Syntax Question
Date: 02.08.08 15:29 (Sat, 2 Aug 2008 10:29:44 -0400)
From: GregO
For anyone using IDE Scripting, do you know if there is a way to
modify the text of a Note? I use a note for recording revision notes
and it would be really helpful if I could do something like:

dim s as string
s = propertyvalue("app.notes.ModNotes")
s = NewRevision + endofline + endofline + s
propertyvalue("app.notes.ModNotes") = s

I just can't figure out if this is legal...

Yes, in theory you can do this by (1) assigning the Location for your
note to the global Location property, and then (2) assigning to
SelStart and SelText to append your text. (See "IDE Script" in the LR
for details.)

I say "in theory" because I know that modifying source code text was
broken in some recent version(s) of RB, and I'm not sure whether it's
currently working. But give it a try.

Thanks for the hint Joe. I had hidden the location bar ('cause I don't
really use it) and had forgotten about it. Turns out that you don't
need selstart and seltext if you're going to put something in the
beginning. I used:

text = "New Heading" + endofline + endofline + text

And that worked just fine.
