No cross-platform built-in preferences class ?

It seems like a glaring hole that there doesn't appear to be a cross
platform built-in preferences interface along the lines of
CFPreferences. It seems you are forced to reinvent the wheel every
time, dealing with writing and parsing a file in whatever arbitrary
format you prefer.

I found a CFPreferences wrapper, and other preferences code at
rbgarage.com but it is disappointing and annoying that there is not
even a decent sample for implementing any persistent preferences
system in the example projects that come with RB.

Consider this a feature request..

Hello,

I've been using XMLDictionary for this for years and years. I only
develop for the Mac, but there's no reason you couldn't use it for
cross-platform development:
