Slow Load of Initial Menubar Click
Date: 28.03.12 22:10 (Wed, 28 Mar 2012 16:10:52 -0500)
From: Albert Wallace
I seem to have done something to the latest version of an application that causes the spinning beachball on a Mac to appear for several seconds the first time I try to select a menu from the menubar. Didn't do this, before. I did add a few more menu items, but nothing drastic. What all happens with that click?

Thanks,
Albert

There is some computation involved, but none of it is new, and any new menu items added were added to the least of these.

Thanks!

No, no fonts involved, thanks.

Have you done something involving fonts in your recent changes?
This can produce the effect you describe.

What happens in your "enableMenuItems" event handler(s)? That code will be executed every time you click on the menu. If it involves a lot of computation or other time-consuming activity, the menu will not until the event handler has returned.
