I've been told that my ElfData plugin does not work with RB 2005 for
classic. What do I do?

Ditch it. Support for classic, I mean. Firstly, I don't think I'll be
buying RB2005 any time soon, and secondly, Metropolis didn't work on
Classic anyway. However, there may be others out there that feel
differently.

Hi RS.

Can you make RB pass my ElfData unit test? The Unit Test can be
downloaded from here: http://www.elfdata.com/plugin/elfdata.zip

This is a unit test that tests every part of my plugin. My tests pass
just fine in RB 5.5.

I've made everything easy for you (or anyone) to see what's going
wrong, by adding a few features such as logging (to figure out where
a hard crash occurs), and breakpoints that fire when a test fails,
and also the ability to disable tests if necessary.

Ummm, I really hate to be the party spoiler, but I think you're turning
the world upside down here. It is YOU who is dependent on RS, not the
other way around.
It would certainly be nice if RS would support and help you in trying to
find why things aren't working as before, but other than that, I don't
think you can demand then to pass your test.

If those are runtime tests, such as testing if an extension to a class fails
when calling a method to this extension, or any other method that is being
tested, those not necessarily should tell that RB25k is failing. If this
occurs, you ought to investigate the method/prop or whatever it is your self
first, because you can expect improvements in RB, which highlight a plugin
coding failure. Fix that first.

I don't know what the problem is, and you would do everybody a favor to
provide the offending code so we can improve our own plugins. Of course it
is possible that something is wrong in 2k5, but those tend to be or have
been related to dynamic access and changes in how a REALcontrol is being
prepared for display in the RB2k5 IDE. Anything else would suggest something
is wrong in plugin code.

Alfred
