[MBS] OverlayWindowMBS change between 10.1 and 11.0?

Hi Christian,

I've been using MBS 10.1 for over a year now to provide overlay windows in Mac OS X. This is in a slide-show style application which shows a picture in a main window, and small pictures in a translucent overlay window. They work great.

I recently updated to MBS 11.0, and all of a sudden the overlays are unreliable.

For example, in a 5 slide presentation I would see - overlay 1 (yes) overlay 2 (yes) overlay 3 (missing) overlay 4 (yes) overlay 5 (missing).

It's not random: if you re-run the app, you'll get the exact pattern every time 1,2,missing 3, 4, missing 5.

Sadly, this only happens in a built application ; I can't reproduce in the debugger.

I've just tested with 11.1pr9 and same behavior.

Note that this is with the mac-only OverlayWindowMBS class (not the cross-platform OverlayMBS class).

Carbon app, built with MBS 2010 R1, tested on 10.6.6 and 10.6.7.

Did you change anything with overlay windows between 10.1 and 11.0 ?

Of note: the images being shown are stored as PNG data strings in a data file. Perhaps the overlay window is showing just fine, but there's a bug in reading the PNG data alpha channel so the image is not masking properly?

Any ideas?

Christian, can you double-check on this? I'd like to figure it out but want to make sure I'm looking in the right location (is it Overlays? Or is it PNGs?)

I assume you use SVN or some version control and can check the logs?

Thanks!

I would estimate that Nov 2010 falls between the releases of 10.1 and 11.0...

Tim

No. Last change was in November 2010.

Have you checked the images?
Maybe you could draw a red point on each window to make sure there is something to see.

Greetings
