[MBS] Endless Preparing Plugins
Date: 19.04.11 08:06 (Tue, 19 Apr 2011 00:06:45 -0700)
From: Mel Patrick
Doesn¹t seem to matter what I do, delete caches, reinstall RS2011R1 or
whatever, every time I go to build an app, I get the preparing MBS plug ins
dialog and end up waiting while it goes through every one of them.

When the desktop app is finally written and linked, it always has the .app
extension appended to the name, visble in the Finder. The ³hide extension²
in the Finder¹s Get Info is ³grayed out² and it can¹t be hidden. If I take
off the extensions it becomes a document.

Finder Prefs for showing extensions doesn¹t hide or show the .app extension.

Any suggestions? I give up.

Mel

With RS 2011r1 there seems something to be broken.

see feedback://showreport?report_id=16431

Please report all errors in feedback and tell RS that you don't like it.

Thanks Christian...

I used to tell RS about lots of things I don't like and report errors. I got
ignored for my efforts. Didn't see any point to continue. Now I spend the
time finding work arounds. Much more productive that way for me.

If it wasn't for MBS, I'd have dumped RS a long time ago.

I accidently figured out the .app extension problem I was having as well. If
I added the version number to the filename for the build and if the version
number happened to be x.x.0, I got the appended .app. If I changed the last
0 to anything else, the .app was never appended. Sooo...

Myapp 1.1.0 ended up with .app on the end
Myapp 1.1.1 didn't..

Weird. And it's not even Monday..

I've had amnesia for as long as I can remember...

Work arounds is the core of my business. It's one of the reasons I write plugins for people.

I've learnt the hard way that even non-plugin documents are also being
"loaded" (in fact, it makes RS crashing with no helpful message).

Have you tried removing the plugins you don't need? Not a total fix but
it should make the delay shorter.

Be aware that if you try this you need to move the unwanted/unneeded
plugins OUT of the 'plugins' folder. If you rename them, RS will still
attempt to load them (it'll attempt to load ANYTHING it finds in plugin
folder!). Also RS scans any 'plugins' subfolders for additional plugins.
I probably shouldn't but I use this last 'feature' to separate my plugins
collections. Have a subfolder each for MBS, Einhugur, BobDelaney etc.
