Greetings,

For me, Window.HasToolbarButtonMBS does nothing now (running Lion). Broken or unsupported?

Well, we had those menu items long before 10.7.

And this is said in the interface guidelines also. What I find hard is knowing what guidelines are for which OS version.
In this case, the guidelines say there should be a File, Edit and View menu (unless one is not applicable) and the View menu should include a “Show/Hide toolbar” menu item. However, did this also apply to Mac OS 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6?
If no, we're sure apps were forced to use another method and the toolbar button isn't available.
If yes, then we could speculate the API to show the toolbar button has changed, or appears elsewhere.
Having an Interface guidelines that is “only up to date” doesn't help for making apps for multiple OS versions.

Thanks for your observation.

Almost all Lion-ized apps have added the Hide/Show Toolbar option to the "View" menu.

Yes, of course.

You're right. Perhaps it's because of the “full screen” icon (two buttons there could be confusing, they thought…).
Ok, so back to creating menu items for showing/hiding the toolbar then…

Thanks

The plugin sets the flags. What the OS does with them, it's up to Apple.

Could it be that Apple removed that widget in Lion. I don't see it here in Real Studio, Mail and Finder...

Greetings

All good observations. Thanks.

Well, I don't know.

But you should always have menu commands for GUI widgets because someone may want to search the menu for it or be disabled and script it. Also a menu command can add a command shortcut key.

Greetings

Yes, indeed, but were they “mandatory” or suggested by the HIG, or finally, just an useful add-on?
(sorry, I explained bad in my previous message)
